Some people may not have a choice between playing roulette live or playing it in online casinos.” If you don’t live near a casino and have no way of getting to one, online roulette is the only way to go. On the other hand if you don’t have access to the Internet or a computer, you’ll need to go to your local casino for roulette action. If you do have a choice, however, here are some factors to consider. First, there is no need for any type of installation to be done, the only thing I need is an Internet connection and a flash enabled web-browser for you to play online games such as free roulette.

Considering Online vs. Live Roulette: Table Options

A big key in successful roulette is finding the right table. This does not mean finding a “lucky” table, but rather finding one with a “European” roulette wheel, one that has only a single zero, rather than the American double zero wheel. The entire House edge comes from the zeroes on the wheel, so a single zero wheel cuts the House edge in half. If your live casino only offers American roulette, you may prefer to get your action online where you can get the most favorable odds. If you are a smart player and have read quite a reasonable review about the roulette sniper, you can at least try your luck and use this particular knowledge as well.

Considering Online vs. Live Roulette: Atmosphere

Playing roulette can be a social event. A hot roulette table at a live casino finds lots of eager players crowded around, all watching the ball dance around the wheel intently, crying out with delight when someone hits the number on the nose. Online roulette can be a much more isolated, quiet affair. If you love the action and excitement of the casino, live roulette may be more fun for you. If you’d rather be able to quietly focus on the game, online roulette may be more fun.

Considering Online vs. Live Roulette: Speed

Some people are very comfortable with the speed of live roulette. They have no problem getting all their bets down in time and like that the game moves briskly. Others may feel differently. If you need lots of time to figure out what your bets will be, or if you get impatient waiting for the next spin, you may want to play online instead, where you can control the speed of the game by spinning the wheel whenever you’re ready, not when the casino is ready.

We often get requests about roulette, how to play roulette?, how to beat the casino?, what roulette strategy should I follow? from different people around the world. For this reason we have setup our site in different languages to cater for all these needs.

In Europe some of the casino rules can be slightly different, if you want to play European roulette online then check out the local rules first before you lose chips. For example lets say you are in holiday in Amsterdam, Holland… then look at our dutch roulette site.

Or here is a good online Dutch casino site, with an explanation of roulette if you can understand Dutch that is…

You must have sat there with those players that only play red or black, even or odd numbers. Hmmm whats it gonna be this time? Lets see last time I bet black and the time before red, so this time it has to be red.

Hello people, work out the odds!! Its all in the numbers, do your math and if you aren’t good at math, then get someone else too and memorize the results. Or just look up a rouletteexposed.com for further information about roulette rules, tips and strategies.

But once a player is set on a certain way of playing, thats it.. it becomes hard to change them and get them to think otherwise.

Here’s a hint: use groups of numbers, instead of just betting on the outcome of red or black, even or odd numbers – the odds are better and you will increase your chance of winning.

If you are going to take roulette seriously then you have to know your odds when playing roulette. If you just take a stab at a few numbers, on a hunch that a number will come up, most times you will lose.

Just do a little homework, its real easy and it will pay off. Think about it… 38 numbers in total, so the likelihood of one number coming up is 1 in 38. Now how much is the house offering you if one number comes up? And is it worth taking the risk on one number? And, how much is the shortfall between the odds of getting one number and what the house offers i.e. the house edge?

That wasn’t so difficult now, was it? Simple math.

Or you could just play online casino games for fun – complete online casino guide will show you where and how to play. If you just want to play roulette for the fun of it and dont mind losing your money. But if you want your chip stack to last longer or if you want to win at roulette then know your odds and place bets according to the odds that you will earn from the casino.

Roulette History

Roulette is one of the most played online casino game at the moment. Online roulette offers an exciting game and good chances of leaving the casino as a winner. Read this brief roulette history and understand more of the game.

The First Roulette Wheel

The credit for creating the first roulette wheel can be attributed to the French mathematician Blaise Pascal who wanted to create a device that would be in a state of continuous motion. After Pascal created this large spinning wheel, one of his friends saw the potential to devise a gambling game. This game, which eventually came to be known as Roulette, gained popularity in France during the 1700s and it soon spread to other parts of Europe. The layout of European Roulette as well as the rules by which this game is played have remained largely unchanged until today.

The Legend Behind the Roulette Game

There is an interesting story about the origins of the game. Francois Blanc, who was the founder of the first casino at Monte Carlo, is believed to have created this game. Legend has it that Blanc sold his soul to the devil in exchange for the secrets of the game. This legend is further born out by the fact that all the numbers on the roulette wheel add up to 666 which is the number of the devil. While there is no solid fact to substantiate this legend, it is true that Blanc was responsible for adding the 0 slot on the wheel thereby increasing the odds in favor of the house.

American Roulette History

It was in the year 1800 that the game traversed the Atlantic ocean to America. Like their European counterparts, the Americans also enjoyed the game with its easy rules and high payouts. American casino owners took Blanc’s idea of adding a 0 slot to the wheel one step further. They added a 00 slot increasing the house odds even more. Soon the game increased in popularity and had a certain aura of glamour associated with it – which is there even today.

My blog post last tuesday has received a bit of comment, and I thought it was worth continuing some of the debate. Some interesting points came up…

When you are in a casino with your chip stack in front of you, then you are more careful with how you spend your money because you can touch and feel your chips, which you have just bought with your hard earned money.

When your chip stack starts going down in front of you, then you start to worry because you can see for yourself that you are losing your money.

But when we play online roulette then we make a deposit and load up on numbers. You watch the numbers go up and down, when they are finished you reach for your wallet and deposit more numbers…

You have to be sure you can afford to lose the money that you are gambling with, in these tougher financial times we all have to budget. Gambling for fun should be with excess money, money that you don’t need to pay the bills. And importantly… once it is all used up for the month, then you should stop gambling… until you have spare money again for entertainment.

Exercise self control whilst playing roulette online or any online casino game.

I get loads of emails asking about roulette strategy and how to bet whilst playing roulette and they come from all over the place. It doesn’t matter whether you are playing roulette in Monte Carlo, Las Vegas or maybe you are spinning the wheel on your favorite online casino…

The great thing about the internet is that you could literary be anywhere in the world and log on. Also the web doesn’t have limiting work hours… like trying to visit the bank…. err sorry you are too late we are closed because we need to count all the money we took off poor innocent, unsuspecting people today…

I even get requests from a casino in the kingdom of Swaziland. Probably well worth a visit, they offer all the standard casino games and host the All Africa Poker Tournament. I would love to visit an exotic place like Swaziland… imagine being the King of Swaziland and trying to handle all those wives… I can’t even handle one wife!!!!

You have to control the amount that you bet in roulette or else you risk losing everything!

In fact this applies to all casino games, if you want to put big bets on a single outcome, remember there is always a chance you will lose. For example you are playing roulette and you see the ball land on black a few times, then you decide right now its going to be red…. you just have a feeling…. you just know it has to be red this time….

So what do you do? You of course push a whole lot of chips onto the board and this time you are going for red…

Forgetting that there is still only a 50% chance that red will come up…. We forget about common sense and good reason…. forget there is still a 50% chance of it not being red and that the ball will end up on black again!

If you want to put large bets on a single outcome, then you must be able to accept losing all your chips - you are then gambling for fun and do not need the money if you lose. With big bets you may win more money if you are lucky… bigger risk… bigger gain… not for the faint hearted.

If you want to try and prolong your game or make a steady profit then it is better to exercise caution and use control bets or control the amount you bet, to minimise your loss. So you analyze the situation and bet accordingly.

It doesn’t matter whether you are playing at a real life casino or a web casino, you still have to control your betting amounts. In fact online it is even harder because you don’t physically see the chips or the money. Your chips are just numbers on the screen and when they run out then you reach for the credit card and top them up…

To put it simply – if there is a small chance of winning, then bet smaller amounts. Bigger chance of winning then bet bigger.

Another great method for placing bets is by using the Kelly Criterion, check this formula:

Formula: (odds x estimation – 1)/(odds – 1)

Example:
Betting capital: $1000
Odds: 5,00
Estimation: 0,25 (25 %)
(5,00 x 0,25 – 1) / (5,00-1) = 0,0625 (6.25%)

The recommended amount to bet is 6.25% of your capital, which would be $62.50. An easy to remember and calcualte formula that helps you work out the optimal amount to bet.

Online roulette is a good choice for those first getting themselves accustomed to online casino play. The game is relatively simple and you can win a lot for a small investment. If you’re trying out online roulette, here are a few betting tips.

Betting Neighbor Numbers in Online Roulette

Your choices in online roulette are not limited to single numbers or even money bets. You can bet on all the numbers touching one another. You can bet two, four or six numbers this way.

To do so, simply place your cursor at the crux of four numbers, in between two numbers, or at the edge of two rows for six numbers. If done properly, it highlights the numbers you wish to select. When they are, click and all of the numbers in question are covered. If you want to add chips, just click multiple times.

Betting Other Groups of Numbers in Online Roulette

Your online roulette table may have a separate oval allowing you to bet different groups of numbers. When you highlight different numbers on the oval, the numbers covered will be highlighted on the layout. You can then click to cover all of them.

Within the oval may be more number groups. Again, by moving your cursor over each area you can highlight the numbers covered. If one chip covers two numbers, the border separating the numbers will be highlighted.

Other Notes on Covering Online Roulette Numbers

Remember that if you cover two or more numbers with one chip, your payout odds divide into halves (quarters, etc. depending on how many numbers are covered). If you wish to get full odds on each number, you will have to bet them separately or bet more chips on the number group.
